Birdworx Return & Replacement Policy
Custom Skinned Helmets – No Refunds, But We've Got Your Back
Every Birdworx custom-skinned helmet is made to order. Once production begins, meaning we have approved your proof and started cutting vinyl or printing your graphic, all sales are final, with zero refunds on any helmet that has received a custom skin.
Bulk Orders (teams, shops, or multiple helmets)
- If we have already placed the helmet order with the manufacturer (Specialized, Giro, Bell, TLD, etc.) but skin production has not started, a 15% restocking fee applies to any cancelled items.
- Once we have started the skin, graphic design, or vinyl production process, no refunds are available on those helmets.
Defective Skin Guarantee – 100% Free Fix (installed by Birdworx only)
If your helmet arrives with a skin that is messed up, such as bubbles, lifting edges, rips, peeling, misaligned prints, or any installation flaw, we fix it at no cost to you.
- We'll email you a prepaid shipping label.
- You send the helmet back to us.
- We repair or replace the skin (same design or updated version), at Birdworx's discretion.
- We ship it back to you free of charge.
This guarantee covers manufacturing and installation defects, not damage from use, and Birdworx makes the final determination based on the returned helmet. It lasts 12 months from the delivery date and applies only to skins installed by Birdworx.
Skin Only Kits (self-install / DIY)
All skin-only purchases are final sale.
- No warranty
- No returns
- No refunds
- No replacements for peeling, bubbles, tears, or application errors
The one exception: if a DIY kit arrives with a manufacturing defect (misprinted graphic, wrong design, or damage in transit before you've applied it), contact us within 7 days with photos, and we'll make it right. Otherwise, once a DIY skin kit has been applied or leaves our shop, the responsibility is 100% yours. We provide installation instructions and video guides to set you up for success.
Skin Application & Removal – Liability Release
A custom skin is a permanent modification to your helmet. By completing checkout, you acknowledge and agree that once a skin has been applied and the helmet has shipped, Birdworx is released from any and all liability related to the helmet's shell, coating, finish, or stock graphics. Specifically:
- Removing a skin may damage the helmet. Peeling off a vinyl skin can lift, pull, or remove the helmet's clear coat, shell coating, paint, or factory or stock graphics. Birdworx is not responsible for any such damage, whether the removal is done by you or anyone else. (This is also why our Crash Replacement Program requires you to leave the skin on.)
- Minor trim marks are part of the process. Applying a custom skin requires trimming the vinyl to fit the helmet, which may leave small, shallow surface cut marks on the shell. These are a normal, expected result of professional installation and are not considered a defect.
This release is a condition of purchase and applies to all custom skinned helmets.
What's NOT Covered
- Refunds or returns on completed custom skinned helmets
- Bulk order cancellations after helmets are ordered from the manufacturer (15% restocking fee) or after skin production has started (zero refund)
- Damage to the helmet shell, coating, or stock graphics caused by removing a Birdworx skin
- Shallow trim marks left on the shell from professional skin installation
- Damage caused by crashes, improper removal, cleaning chemicals, or normal wear
- "Change of mind" or design tweaks after proof approval
- Helmets purchased elsewhere and sent to us for skinning
- Any issues with self installed skin only kits (other than the on arrival defect exception above)
How to Get a Defective Skin Fixed (installed by us)
- Reply to your original order email or DM us
- Send clear photos of the issue
- We'll reply within 24 hours with a prepaid shipping label
- Drop the helmet in the mail
- We fix it and ship it back to you free, usually within 48 hours of receiving it
We stand behind every inch of vinyl we lay down. If it's not perfect, we make it perfect, on our dime.
Ride hard. Look good. Trust Birdworx.
Birdworx Crash Replacement
Every helmet you buy from Birdworx qualifies for our Crash Replacement Policy. If you crash and damage your helmet while riding (and the damage isn’t covered under the helmet manufacturer’s standard warranty), we’ll replace it at a steep discount—no hassle, no run-around.
Eligible Helmets
Any helmet purchased directly from Birdworx at full retail price. Applies to the helmet itself and Birdworx-installed graphics. Works with every brand we carry (Specialized, Giro, Bell, Troy Lee Designs, etc.)—the same discount schedule applies across the board.
Crash Replacement Program
Birdworx understands that crashes happen, and we strongly recommend replacing any helmet involved in a significant impact.
Birdworx offers a Crash Replacement Program for the original purchaser for up to 24 months from the date of purchase.
- 0–12 Months: Receive 40% off the current retail price of a replacement helmet.
- 13–24 Months: Receive 25% off the current retail price of a replacement helmet.
To qualify, customers must provide proof of purchase along with photos of the damaged helmet.
Please Note: The crash replacement discount applies to the helmet only. Replacement graphic skins, artwork, installation, shipping, and accessories are not included and will be charged at standard retail pricing.
The program is limited to one replacement claim per original helmet purchase and applies only to helmets purchased directly from Birdworx.
